When Marcus and I began our trip around the world in 2011, I knew we were in for life-changing adventures. For years, I worked in the travel and tourism industry, writing reviews about cookie cutter hotels across Europe. I loved the travel, but hated seeing the same hotel room week after week. So when Marcus and I decided to pack up and go, I expected the hotels we stayed in to be exactly what I had seen during my work travels: cookie cutter accommodations – just a place to lay our heads after we exhausted ourselves with sightseeing.

But, as we traveled for almost two years through India, Myanmar, Bali, Australia, New Zealand and over 40 more countries, not only did we discover ourselves, but we also uncovered the most amazing boutique hotels. In every country we visited, we were blown away by the hip hideaways we found – all with local character and fashion that lured us into a surprisingly authentic experience.

As our trip continued, boutique hotels started to become a part of our sightseeing adventures. We sought them out wherever we went and were charmed all over the world by hotels sincerely focused on providing a personalized and stylish experience for their guests.

Now that we’re back from our ‘round the world adventure, we’re taking our love of the international boutique hotel experience to new heights. The Amberlair Boutique Hotel Project is a natural extension of our passion for travel and the authentic cultural experiences we had around the world.

Today, we are in search of friends who share our passion, and we invite you to be a part of the process as we set up boutique apartments for the people by the people in gorgeous destinations around the world.
